Dear Indian Railways,

As India celebrates its 78th Independence Day, I find myself reflecting on a relationship that has shaped my life in ways words can hardly capture. Every whistle, every clickety-clack of the tracks, and every distant hum of a train approaching stirs something within me—a nostalgic reverie of journeys past and the promise of adventures yet to come.

My affair with the railways began as a child, standing on the platform, holding my father's hand, and waiting with bated breath for the train to arrive. The sight of that massive steel giant rolling into the station, the sound of the brakes screeching, and the rush of wind as it passed—these moments were nothing short of magical. I remember peering out of the window, watching the landscape whizz by, feeling the world shrink as the train carried me across cities, states, and stories.

There’s something profoundly Indian about the railway journey.
