Train in UP keeps honking for Signal as Station Master in Etawah Sleeps.

Etawah, Uttar Pradesh – A major incident of negligence has come to light at the Udi Mod railway station in Etawah district. On the morning of May 3, at around 5 AM, the pilot of the Patna-Kota Express train honked continuously for half an hour, but the Deputy Station Master (Deputy SS), Dilip Kumar, was found sleeping on duty. This negligence could have led to a serious mishap, causing panic among passengers and railway staff.

Incident Details

The Patna-Kota Express train had halted at Udi Mod station, with the pilot repeatedly honking and requesting a green signal from the station master. However, the on-duty Deputy SS, Dilip Kumar, had fallen asleep and did not respond to the train's signals for about half an hour. This created a potentially dangerous situation, as the lack of response could have led to a serious accident.

Railway Department's Response

After the incident came to the attention of senior railway officials, including the Agra Division Railway Manager (DRM), there was an immediate uproar within the railway department. The media quickly picked up the story, prompting the department to issue a notice to the negligent Deputy SS. Subsequently, a charge sheet has been issued to Dilip Kumar, demanding a resp

Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Rishikesh Maurya, took note of the incident and initiated the disciplinary process. The Deputy SS must now submit his explanation for the negligence, based on which further action will be determined.

Potential Consequences

The negligence displayed by the Deputy SS could have resulted in a significant railway accident, highlighting the critical importance of vigilance among railway staff. Although no other trains were scheduled to pass through Udi Mod station at that time, the Deputy SS's failure to respond to the honking train for such an extended period underscores a severe lapse in duty.

The Agra Division's Public Relations Officer, Prashasti Srivastava, confirmed that the department is taking this incident seriously. The railway authorities are awaiting the Deputy SS's response to the charge sheet to decide on the appropriate disciplinary action. As of now, it remains unclear what specific actions will be taken against the negligent official.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for strict adherence to safety protocols and the importance of remaining alert while on duty to prevent potentially catastrophic outcomes.
