Proposal to Extend 20983/84 Bhuj-Delhi Express to Haridwar Under Consideration
New Delhi, 14th August 2024 – Indian Railways is currently considering a proposal to extend the existing 20983/84 Bhuj-Delhi Express service to Haridwar. This extension is being discussed in response to increasing passenger demand for direct connectivity between Bhuj, Delhi, and the pilgrimage city of Haridwar.
The proposal suggests extending the bi-weekly Bhuj-Delhi Express (20983/84) to Haridwar, with additional stops at significant stations along the way. The extended route would allow passengers to travel directly from Bhuj in Gujarat to Haridwar in Uttarakhand, passing through Delhi. This would enhance the convenience for travelers heading to Haridwar, a major religious destination.
Preliminary discussions indicate that the extended service would involve several operational adjustments, including revised timings for the Bhuj-Delhi Express. The train, currently terminating at Delhi, would continue its journey to Haridwar, reaching the destination in the evening hours.
According to the proposed schedule, the train would depart from Bhuj at 15:00 hrs, arrive in Delhi around 03:00 hrs the next day, and reach Haridwar by 18:00 hrs. The return service would leave Haridwar at 19:25 hrs, arriving in Delhi early the next morning, and continue to Bhuj, arriving in the afternoon.

Impact and Considerations
The extension of the train is expected to impact the existing schedules of other trains operating on this route. Indian Railways officials are currently evaluating the feasibility of this proposal, taking into account the need to adjust the timings of several other services, including train numbers 19610 and 04364 (54486), to accommodate the new extension.
The extended service, if approved, would require coordination across multiple railway divisions to ensure that the additional load on the tracks does not disrupt the smooth operation of other scheduled trains. Indian Railways is committed to maintaining a high level of service while expanding connectivity for passengers.
The proposal is currently under review, with railway divisions involved in the planning process. Detailed timings and operational feasibility are being assessed, and a final decision will be made in the coming weeks.
A senior railway official commented, "The proposed extension of the Bhuj-Delhi Express to Haridwar is part of our ongoing efforts to meet passenger demand and improve connectivity between key cities. We are carefully considering the operational implications to ensure that any changes made will benefit the majority of our passengers."
Passengers and stakeholders will be informed of the final decision once the review process is complete. Indian Railways continues to work towards enhancing its services and meeting the evolving needs of its passengers.
