44 Premium Superfast trains to be Slowed Down, Mission Raftaar all set to be a flop

Repercussions Due to Change in Timings of Major Trains Over NCR

The North Central Railway (NCR) has proposed a series of changes to the timings of 44 prominent trains, including Train No. 12050/12049 NZM-VGLJ Gatiman, 22470/22469 NZM-KURJ Vande Bharat, 20172/20171 NZM-RKMP Vande Bharat, and 12002/12001 NDLS-RKMP Shatabdi Express. These changes are necessitated by the reduction in the maximum speed from 160/150 kmph to 130 kmph between Palwal to Agra for these 4 Premium Trains.

Contradiction to Mission Raftaar

Mission Raftaar, an ambitious initiative by Indian Railways, aims to increase the average speed of trains and improve punctuality. The recent changes in train timings over NCR appear to be in contradiction to this mission. The reduction in the maximum permissible speed for several key trains not only affects their schedule but also impacts the overall goal of speeding up rail travel across the country.

Key Points of Impact:

  1. Speed Reduction: The decision to lower the speed from 160/150 kmph to 130 kmph on certain sections results in longer travel times for some of the fastest trains in the country.
  2. Timetable Adjustments: The revised timings of 40 Mail/Express trains to accommodate this speed reduction highlight the widespread impact on scheduling and punctuality.
  3. Passenger Inconvenience: These changes are likely to cause inconvenience to passengers who have planned their journeys based on the previous faster schedules.
  4. Operational Efficiency: Slower speeds contradict the efforts to enhance operational efficiency and reduce travel time, core objectives of Mission Raftaar.

Conclusion:

The Indian Railways is at a crossroads with its recent adjustments, which seem to counteract the objectives of Mission Raftaar. While ensuring safety and reliability is paramount, balancing these with the mission's goals of increased speed and improved punctuality remains a critical challenge. Passengers are advised to stay updated with the latest changes in train schedules to avoid any inconvenience.
