New Vande Bharat and train to Kanyakumari for Sri Nagar as Kashmir railway link project gears up for completion

The much-anticipated Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project is on the brink of completion, with final trials anticipated for October. Following the CRS inspection of the Reasi to Sangaldan (SGDN) section, the Northern Railway (NR) has proposed three new trains to run on this route including MEMU, marking a significant milestone in the project’s progress.

Proposed Train Services

As per the instructions from the Railway Board, tentative timings for the introduction of two new Vande Bharat Express services between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Srinagar (SINA) have been announced. The proposed schedules for these services are as follows:

SVDK-SINA-1

  • Departure from SVDK: 06:05 AM
  • Arrival at SINA: 09:10 AM

SVDK-SINA-2

  • Departure from SVDK: 03:00 PM
  • Arrival at SINA: 05:55 PM

SINA-SVDK-1

  • Departure from SINA: 10:55 AM
  • Arrival at SVDK: 01:55 PM

SINA-SVDK-2

  • Departure from SINA: 07:00 PM
  • Arrival at SVDK: 09:00 PM

These trains are expected to run six days a week, excluding Wednesdays, and will require one Vande Bharat rake as indicated by the Railway Board.

Long-Haul Train Proposals

The second set of proposals involves long-haul train services, as seen in the attached images. One such proposal includes a train between Srinagar and Kanyakumari (CAPE), reflecting the expansive connectivity plan envisaged by the Railway authorities.

CAPE-SINA Train

  • Days of Operation: Wednesday, Saturday
  • Departure from CAPE: 12:10 PM
  • Arrival at SINA: 07:35 AM (next day)
  • Intermediate Halts: Ambala Cantt., New Delhi, Palwal, Mathura, Kota, and more.

The return journey from Srinagar to Kanyakumari is planned similarly, ensuring bi-weekly services to cater to the long-distance travel needs of passengers.

Conclusion

With the USBRL project nearing its final stages, the introduction of these new train services promises enhanced connectivity and improved travel experiences for the region's residents. The forthcoming final trials and subsequent commissioning of the Reasi-SGDN section will be pivotal in realizing this vision.

Northern Railway’s proactive steps in proposing these services reflect their commitment to operational excellence and passenger convenience. Stay tuned for further updates on the trial runs and the official inauguration of these new routes. #USBRL #NorthernRailway #VandeBharatExpress #Reasi #Sangaldan #Baramulla #Srinagar #TrainServices #RailwayNews #IndianRailways #Connectivity #RailwayInfrastructure #RailwayDevelopment #TravelUpdates #LongHaulTrains #VandeBharat #CRSInspection
