New Bi-Weekly Train Service for Passengers very soon by Indian Railways

In a recent meeting held in Jaipur from April 10 to April 12, 2024, the Indian Railways announced the introduction of a new bi-weekly train service between Secunderabad (SC) and Vasco-da-Gama (VSG). This new service aims to provide more travel options and convenience to passengers traveling between these two cities.

Train Timings and Schedule

The train, numbered 17039 from Secunderabad to Vasco-da-Gama, will depart Secunderabad at 10:05 AM every Wednesday and Friday. It will make stops at various stations along the route, reaching its final destination, Vasco-da-Gama, at 5:45 AM the following day (Thursday and Saturday).

On the return journey, train number 17040 from Vasco-da-Gama to Secunderabad will leave at 6:20 AM every Friday and Sunday. The train will complete its journey, arriving back at Secunderabad at 9:00 AM the next day (Saturday and Monday).

Key Stoppages

The train will halt at several important stations along its route:

  • Over South Central Railway (SCR): Kacheguda (KCG), Shadnagar (SHNR), Jadcherla (JCL), Mahbubnagar (MBNR), Gadwal (GWD), Kurnool Town (KRNT), Dhone (DHNE), Guntakal (GTL)
  • Over South Western Railway (SWR): Bellary (BAY), Hospet (HPT), Koppal (KBL), Gadag (GDG), Hubli (UBL), Dharwad (DWR), Londa (LD), Castle Rock (CLR), Kulem (QLM), Sanvordem (SVN), Madgaon (MAO)

Train Composition and Facilities

The train will have a total of 22 modern LHB coaches, including:

  • 2 luggage-cum-brake vans
  • 4 sleeper class coaches
  • 8 general second class coaches
  • 5 air-conditioned three-tier coaches
  • 3 air-conditioned two-tier coaches

The train will be hauled by an electric HOG (Head-on Generation) locomotive, ensuring efficient and eco-friendly travel.

Maintenance and Frequency

The primary maintenance of the train will be carried out at Secunderabad, with overhauling and emergency maintenance at Vasco-da-Gama. The train will operate bi-weekly, with departures from Secunderabad on Wednesdays and Fridays, and from Vasco-da-Gama on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Travel Distance and Time

The total distance covered by the train is 827 kilometers. The journey from Secunderabad to Vasco-da-Gama will take approximately 19 hours and 40 minutes, while the return trip will take around 21 hours and 20 minutes.
