Varanasi, 24 June 2024: In a major policy shift, the Indian Railways has announced the permanent addition of more general coaches to trains of popular routes, aiming to address widespread criticism regarding unauthorized travel in reserved compartments. This move comes after the recent election results and is seen as a response to public demand for better accessibility and accommodation for unreserved passengers. In Phase 1, few trains of busiest rail routes will be given additional general coaches and if the problem of unauthorised passenger still isn't resolved. Railway will plan additional trains on the routes.
